| Name: | Raisin |
| Sex: | Female |
| Age: | 10 months |
| Weight: | 33.0 |
| Color: | Brindle |
| Coat: | Rough (Medium) |
| Energy Level: | Med/High |
| Spayed/Neutered: | Yes |
| Heartworm Status: | |
| Location: | Unassigned |
| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Raisin was relinquished by her owners due to life changes (divorce) and a upcoming move.
Are you looking for the adventure buddy of a lifetime? Raisin might just be that gal! She is incredibly intelligent, loyal, playful, and athletic and brings fun and life to everything she encounters! A walking/jogging companion? She's your girl! Looking to throw a frisbee at a park? She loves it! Even though Raisin is a high-drive / high energy pup, she is settling well into her foster's WFH routine, and does great with structured crate naps during the day. After spending sometime during the value of down time, Raisin is doing great settling next to her fosters on the couch for naps and is a very sweet, affectionate and cuddly girl all around who loves to check in on everyone she lives with (a regular little shadow).
Raisin picked up her basic obedience in a flash (literally one session), and has been practicing sit, down, shake, twirl, rollover and WAIT (even though she's a highly food motivated pup, she has been developing an amazing wait threshold and can even wait through scatter feeding).
Raisin would THRIVE with an owner that is looking for and is experienced with higher energy/drive dogs, and one that knows how to balance her physical needs (e.g., 2-3 hours per day of playing, walking, fetching), her mental needs (e.g., daily training, learning, sniffing, problem solving), and her wellness (e.g., reinforcing off switch/chill time). She would be an awesome candidate for anyone interested in amateur dog sports, but would be perfectly happy with someone that wants to provide her with a routine that includes lots of structured play time and engagement.

Meet Bernard – Your New Best Friend!
Bernard is a handsome Border Collie with a heart full of love and loyalty. This sweet, affectionate boy is the perfect mix of playful and laid-back. He’s potty trained, knows his basic commands, and is always ready for a game of fetch or a cozy snuggle on the couch.
Bernard has a moderate activity level—he enjoys playtime but also appreciates downtime to relax and “veg out.” He’s food-motivated (treats are his love language!) and adores his human companions. While he typically not interested in play with other dogs, he’s happiest when he has toys and people to play with.
Bernard would thrive in a home where he can be part of the family. He’s best suited for families without toddlers or infants—not because he isn’t loving, but because he prefers a calmer environment where he can shine as your loyal companion.
If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate dog who will bring joy, laughter, and endless cuddles into your life, Bernard is ready to meet you!

| Heartworm Status: | Negative |
| Location: | Out of State - LA |
| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Briggs was originally a stray found in Baton Rouge. He was transferred between shelters and had a few failed fosters and adoptions due to human error.
Briggs is doing well in his foster home and has shown himself to be a wonderful companion ONCE he is bonded with his people. He loves playing fetch, is wonderful to bathe and brush, loads/unloads from the vehicle, has a basic command foundation, walks great on leash, and is very well behaved in the house. Currently he is exposed to cats, 3 children (ages 8, 4, and 10 months), and other dogs of all sizes (he does well with many different types and size of dogs after a proper introduction, but at first meeting tends to prefer dogs smaller than he is).
Briggs has had rough past in which he was very likely mistreated, so he can still be nervous around new people, especially when cornered. But he opens up to people that are willing to take a slower approach and let him acclimatize and then is very affectionate and loyal.
Briggs is being fostered near Lafayette, LA (1.5 hours from Baton Rouge and 2.5 from New Orleans)

| Color: | Black & White |
| Coat: | Rough (Medium) |
| Energy Level: | Low |

Bettye is a sweet, affectionate, and loyal companion who loves being around her people. She’s the kind of dog who enjoys lounging nearby, getting lots of pets, and soaking up attention — in fact, she can never get enough! Bettye is low-energy, doesn’t get overly hyper, and is happiest in a calm, predictable home.
She’s fully potty trained, comfortable in her kennel while you’re out, and doesn’t tear up her bedding. Toys aren’t really her thing — her favorite activity is just being with her people.
Because Bettye is food-motivated and sometimes a little protective of her humans, she would do best in an adult-only home without other dogs or small children. In the right environment, she’ll be a loving, devoted companion who will happily curl up by your side and soak up every bit of attention you can give her.

Rubie (Ruby) is a sweet, playful, energetic pup who joined the rescue as her family is no longer able to care for her. She currently lives with small kids and a small dog and has previously socialized with other pups
Meet this beautiful 4-year-old Border Collie Ruby who’s ready to put her smarts and spirit to work in a forever home!
She loves to train and thrives on activity so an active household would be her dream come true. She’s crate trained and fully potty trained making her an easy fit into any type of routine.
On leash, she can show some mild reactivity (pulling and occasional barking), but is easily redirected with treats, so continued positive, reward-based training will help her thrive in a new household.
Around new dogs she may be timid at first, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her playful side comes out!
When it comes to affection, she’s a bit of an independent lady. She enjoys pets and attention and will never turn them down—but she prefers affection on her own terms and will politely let you know when she’s had enough.
Also fun fact: she absolutely loves fishing cucumbers out of her bowl, it’s her own personal game she’s perfected over the years.
If you’re looking for a smart, active, and wonderfully quirky companion who will thrive with guidance, patience, and love, this special girl might be your perfect match.

Cash was rescued from the euthanasia list at a Houston shelter
Cash came to us scared and with a paw injury that he is still recovering from, but quickly came out of his shell in his foster home. He is very gentle and has a strong desire to bond and please - his cutest quirk is giving leg and foot hugs when he's excited to see his people (he grabs onto a leg and doesn't want to let go until he gets head or belly rubs!). With his foot injury still healing, we are taking only short walks with Cash but he is walking very loose-leashed so far, although he is interested in squirrels so could become a bit of a puller in the future - he has no reactivity to dogs, people, cats, cars that he encounters on his walks. Cash has been very good with other dogs in his foster home, as well as cats - he gives neutral greets and respects other animals' space. He is learning to be more comfortable hanging out inside the house (so far, he is happiest hanging out next to his foster when she's working from home or chilling/napping in the yard in the great fall weather), but has had no accidents and is crate trained. Cash is also discovering toys and is enjoying squeaky soft toys that he bounces around the yard with and has learned to fetch a ball! Cash is a gem of a dog and would make a wonderful moderate energy level, very loving and gentle companion.
Cash is being fostered in near Beaumont, TX.

Duncan joins us from our group of OK hoarding pups. About a year old and under 40 lbs, Duncan is a shy but sweet pup who is good with cats, dogs and kids. He takes a minute to warm up, and seems to really like finding cozy corners and crates to snooze in, but around dinner time he is a social butterfly! He loves to chew on bully sticks and hooves and is very food motivated. He's mostly potty trained and learning how to walk on a leash- but he's eager to learn! With a loving and patient home, he would really thrive. If you'd like to be part of Duncan's next, happy and healthy chapter- please let us know. He's ready to be part of his forever family

Odie was rescued from a 110+ dog plus hoarding situation in North Texas.
Odie, who is as good natured and orange cat-loving as his name sake, came into the rescue from the Heartland Hoarding situation and has proven himself to be the most goofy, loving, fun and gentle little guy (his handsome looks don’t hurt either). He has made SO much socialization progress in just a short time and is ready to find his life-crew!
Leash trained, house trained and crate trained (although he can be crate anxious in a new environment, he does settle in a crate nicely after a few days and positive reinforcement/consistency)
A friend to all dogs and cats and great with kids, including the occasional toddler that wants to hug him during a walk 😆
Medium toy drive that is increasing all the time! He loves squeaky toys, will sporadically want to chase after a ball, and is obsessed with teaser toys
Can still be a little shy meeting strangers but warms up quickly. He loves head, body, belly scratches and has the cutest way of booping your hand to ask for more affection
LOVES walks!

Jolene was rescued from a 120+ dog hoarding situation in North Texas.
While shy in the beginning, Jolene warms up to be sweet, energetic and loves to play with toys and adores other dogs. Jolene is super smart and has picked up on leash training training, crate/house training, and even learned to jump into a car following in her foster brother's lead.
From Jolene's foster:
"Jolene is one of the sweetest Border Collies that I have came across. Regardless of the situation that she came from she has a sweet temperament and loves people and loves dogs. She is a little shy at first but she is such a fast learner especially when rewarded with treats! She is completely leash trained. She walks on my left side never pulls or goes behind and when I stop she stops and sits. Jolene comes to her name, sits, goes into her room "crate" when told. I'm working on shake and I'm sure she will master in the next couple of days. Jolene's hair was trimmed after she was rescued and it is growing out beautifully, she red and white Border Collie with eyes that can melt you. Jolene will be absolutely amazing addition to any family with or without kids and with or without pets. She is sweet, playful, completely housebroken and loves to play with her toys! All you need to adopt Jolene is... love!"

Bailey (renamed Lucy by her foster) was rescued from a 110+ dog plus hoarding situation in North Texas.
Lucy knows her name and basic verbal and hand commands, like sit, stay, bed, kennel. She does better each time she is placed on a leash and much better on harness over collar. She is a still a shy dog, not yet a big cuddler, but loves to be pet and is very curious. Still in her puppy phase so be sure to have toys available for her to chew (low stuffing or strong material is best for her). Lucy is VERY dog friendly and may do better with another dog in the house (or at least a doggy friend she can interact with regularly) to be her leader and is very affectionate towards other dogs. She will jump into a car if another dog jumps in first and rides very well (will just sleep). Needs plenty on outside time to run out her energy. Lucy is a sweet pup that that is still changing, developing, learning each week and is at the perfect time in her socialization progress to adapt to the routines of her forever home.
She is currently being fostered in College Station, TX.

Camilla (79) was rescued from a 110+ dog plus hoarding situation in North Texas.
“Brains, beauty, and a heart eager to bond—this young Border Collie is ready to learn, love, and belong.”
Camille is 11 months old and just beginning to show her true glow. Now that she’s getting regular meals and good care, her coat is filling in beautifully, and her personality is shining just as brightly.
She’s an affectionate, athletic, and intelligent girl who loves being part of the action. Trips to the park? Yes, anytime. Car rides? Absolute favorite—she’s calm, quiet, and always naps when the trips get long. Playtime and learning new things are right up her alley, especially when treats are involved—she’s food-motivated and eager to please, making her a joy to train. She loves her many toys, entertaining herself and anyone who wants to assist. She likes to be active but certainly has her off switch and when she is ready for bed, she is ready. She is calm and self assured in most situations. Calm introductions to new people and other dogs are best for her. she prefers a little bit of time to warm up.
She’s house trained and crate trained, likes walking on a leash, and her play and nap time. She is well-mannered for such a young dog that had to be brought up to speed. She bonds quickly with her people and thrives on companionship, affection, and engagement. This is a dog who truly wants to be your dog.
Because of her Border Collie intelligence and age, she’ll do best in a home that understands young, active dogs and has the time to provide mental stimulation (She’s a wiz at puzzle toys), exercise, and continued training. In return, she’ll give you unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and a best-friend connection that comes naturally and deeply.
If you’re looking for a smart, loving, and active companion—and you’re ready to invest in a young dog who’s ready to give her whole heart—she just might be the one you’ve been waiting for.

Whisky joins us care of our rescue partner in Louisiana. Heartworm positive, this year old, 35 lb, heartworm positive pup, is hanging out with a new, local to Louisiana foster who will take him through his heartworm treatment before he's available to adopt. Likely from the same person who dumped BB, CeeCee, DD, Echo, Sally and Nick, this red and white, smooth coat boy is dog friendly and people shy but is getting more and more confident by the day.

Wrangler was found at about 12 weeks old by a Good Samaritan. He had a broken leg, and they nursed him back to health. Wrangler is now about 9 months old and is your classic border collie: super smart, full of energy, and always ready to learn something new. He’s crate trained and potty trained, and his foster could see him being a wonderful candidate for agility or trick training. He’s the kind of dog who enjoys activities that keep his mind and body busy.
Wrangler loves to play and make friends, though he's still a little shy around new people – especially kids (he hasn’t been around many). His prey drive is strong, so he’ll need a home where he won’t be tempted to chase small animals. He can also clear a 5 ft fence but isn't an escape artist.
He needs to gain some confidence in himself, but he has acclimated to his BCSAVE foster home very quickly! He has a new best friend (Lakona) and they play NON-STOP.

Meet Katie - she wants start off by telling you that she does have both ears - one just likes to flop and the other is perky enough for both of them!
Katie was found on the streets of South Texas crossing a busy road - she was in horrible condition: malnourished, mangy, and covered in fleas and ticks (scroll for before photo). A good Samaritan grabbed her and she has been the sweetest girl from day 1 - her rescuer says that it truly seems like Katie is thankful and appreciate of being rescued.
Since her full recovery, Katie is motto is to have the best time - she loves playing with all of her best dog friends (which is pretty much any dog she meets), SWIMMING, and playing toss with her favorite toys (she fetches like a champ!). Katie is still getting more confident on a leash, but is naturally very eager to please and a fast learner. She absolutely loves to make new friends and is a social butterfly with people and dogs alike!

Check out Bradley’s foster adventure here: https://www.facebook.com/share/16BQ93ZxoM/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Bradley is an active pup who loves his people more than anything. He does have some typical Border Collie traits (herding, excitability) that can present as pushiness. He also enjoys playing soccer and tug of war. Cars and birds are his enemy, as he likes to chase them from a distance and along fence lines. Bradley is also very smart and already knows a handful of commands, such as sit, sit pretty, lay down, and roll over. He can get very excited and want to circle or play or tug, and Bradley can also be a little needy when he wants attention, including getting in front of other dogs who happens to be in the way.
Bradley does love to walk and run with his person, and would be great as an only dog, though he gets along with other dogs who are more passive towards him. He does fantastic with people of all ages and sizes, and is great with smaller dogs and larger female dogs. He can be picky about his male dog friends. Overall, Bradley is a sweet pup who wants nothing more than to sit at your feet or by you on the couch and get pet.

Willow is a BC mix pup found as a stray in Fort Worth. She appears to be a large border collie/Pap mix, at about 23 lbs and 17 1/2 in tall. Willow LOVES people but has some reactivity towards other dogs and the occasional person walking by in public. She requires an adopter who is willing and able to take the time and training to work through this. If there is another dog in the home, Willow would need a SLOOOOOOOW and LOOOOOONG introduction, with several walks and meets with the dog to become familiar before being placed.
Her current foster allowed Willow a month before integrating her into her pack. She is now very comfortable with everyone, though she still challenges the matriarch female. She has convinced all the young dogs to play with her, two of whom had never played with any other foster before Willow. She is a whirlwind, racing in the yard after squirrels but will also snuggle with you while you watch TV. She is very food motivated and will also play with toys.
Willow is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever met. She is just a little cautious when she meets new people but quickly forgets and loves everyone, male or female. She will jump in your lap for long snuggles and kisses. Her weight and height make it easy to pick her up and carry her around like a sheltie! She knows how to sit and the word off (as in "get off the couch").
She plays ball and will fetch, most times, lol. She loves tennis balls and toys that crinkle and squeak.. particularly a large stuffed chicken from Pets Supplies Plus. She enjoys tug of war with the leash toys with fluff at the end. She is very high energy and will run around the backyard at great speed. She has learned how to scale a 3 foot fence so her adopter should have a 6 foot privacy fence. She is crate trained but her foster has started leaving her out and she has done very well, with no items destroyed and no accidents in the house. She is doggy door trained as well.
We think Willow would do well in an experienced home with no other pets that can work with her dog reactivity, or one that is willing to give her the time she needs to get used to any dogs in the family.

| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
King was surrendered in MS with Queenie by owners who had to move and were not able to safely keep them, so they opted to find a rescue. Unfortunately, King is heartworm positive.
He's great with other dogs, in his crate, on leash, and in the car. He does get worked up over engine noises outside, so we're hoping to find a long term foster/ permanent adopter who also has a more quiet place for him to live. He does not have any interest in toys (other than to shred them), and is still getting used to being an inside dog (he probably spent his life outside in a kennel).
He needs to begin his heartworm treatment but part of the requirement is to keep calm, and King gets very anxious (pacing, barking, panting hard) when he hears the farm equipment (mowers, etc.) going at his current foster home (even in his crate).
He is available for a foster to adopt home in which he will continue his rescue-sponsored HW treatment.
| Name: | Lakona |

| Color: | Black & White |
| Coat: | Rough (Medium) |
| Energy Level: | Medium |
| Spayed/Neutered: | Yes |

| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Lakona was surrendered to our partner vet to be euthanized after he suffered a medical issue and they could not afford his care. After surgery to remove a cloth foreign body that was anchored in his stomach and extended into his intestines, and subsequent fluid removal from his belly, he's now on the mend and with a foster in the Austin area.
Lakona is a very friendly and gentle boy that takes a minute to warm up to new people, but once he does, he is all about love. He is affectionate and adores all the dogs that he meets and has learned to live with cats. He does great and has all the confidence in the world when he has another confident dog with him, but he’s still timid when solo with new people and situations.
He is 100% crate trained, but in his chewing phase so no bedding or plush style toys unless you like picking up fluff on a daily basis. He walks great on and off leash but he prefers his pack mate(s) with him. He'd definitely knock over younger kids with his goofy play because he has no idea what to do with his legs. He knows his basics: sit, down, crate, heel, come. He just likes to play! He does still need a structured potty schedule.
He is a velcro dog and meets everyone with kindness. He needs a fun, playful fur-friend to romp with and a loving family who can continue working with him to build his confidence.

| Energy Level: | Low |
| Spayed/Neutered: | Yes |
| Heartworm Status: | Negative |
| Location: | North Texas (DFW) |
| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Skipper has had a rough start in life. A stray, he entered the shelter with non-contagious mange as well as a front leg that was fractured in two places. The shelter was full and medical cases are often the first to get euthanized when the shelter needs to make space. We took him in with the help of a wonderful foster.
Since then, he has been treated for the mange and his leg has healed. Since then, he's been with his foster and has done fabulously! His foster tested his DNA and found out Skipper is Husky/ Shepherd mix with no BC (hard to tell when they have no hair lol).
Even though he has not BC in him, he is a fantastic pup. He is a sweet, lovable, active, and friendly pup. He loves to hang outside and chew on a bone, or frolic with his foster brothers. He is always happy and friendly, and is crate and house-trained. He will make a fine pup for an active family looking for a sweet guy to just “be a dog”.

Gem and her siblings were rescued from an 80+ dog hoarding case in North Texas.
Gem (aka Gemma) was extremely shy at first, but has come around to getting pets when her name is called. However, her preference is to be outside running with all the herding dogs as opposed to hanging out inside. She loves to chase and get in the water. She is extremely food motivated but has not shown much interest in toys. She is a fairly active dog, and at times, her working line spirit really shows when chasing the donkeys along the fence line.
Gemma is not yet leash or crate trained but is house-trained with a dog door. She'll make a great active companion and would love a pup friend to run a large yard with!

| Spayed/Neutered: | No |
| Heartworm Status: | |
| Location: | North Texas (DFW) |
| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Bess is a petite black and white pup who is pure working dog at heart. She was one of the most feral of the Heartland Hoarding group. Very similar to Sistene, Bess likes to herd you all the time. Bess will never be cuddly or affectionate but enjoys being around her foster family. She goes everywhere her foster mom does on the ranch and is content with hanging out. She does gets annoyed by kids and just walks away from them. She is a peculiar dog and often her foster mom would find her sitting in a flower pot, laying on a bench, or find she has dug a giant hole to lay in. It took awhile but she can finally be walked on a leash and harness. She has finally started asking for affection and will now put her paws in her foster mom's lap when she wants something.

| Energy Level: | TBD |
| Spayed/Neutered: | Yes |
| Heartworm Status: | Negative |
| Location: | North Texas (DFW) |
| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Dainty is likely a Border Collie/ Terrier (?) mix. Dainty was a stray captured in the Weatherford area. She was heartworm positive at the time she was rescued and has been going through slow kill treatment.
She has finally come around to be pet, though she is still nervous about it at times. She is dog door and house trained, and loves to sleep on a soft dog bed. She is playful with other pups, though she can get a little pushy at times (we think that’s the Terrier in her). She is still difficult to hold for longer than a few seconds and can not be leashed.
Dainty needs a patient family who is willing to work with her while she gets used to any new location. She is not an affectionate dog, and is likely going to take a long time to become comfortable in a new home.
| Name: | Kirby |
| Sex: | Male |
| Age: | 5 years |
| Weight: | 43.0 |
| Color: | Red & White |
| Coat: | Rough (Medium) |
| Energy Level: | Med/High |
| Spayed/Neutered: | Yes |

| Location: | North Texas (DFW) |
| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Kirby is a transfer from our friends at Duck Team 6, a street dog rescue in the Dallas area with a mission to reduce the street dog population through trapping and rehoming. Back in April, Kirby showed up on a nice lady’s property in Joshua, TX and decided he didn’t want to leave and the owner asked DT6 for help. Their capture team went out and set the trap but before they finished dropping the food trail, Kirby was captured!
Kirby was then placed in a boarding facility while DT6 looked for his owners (1st) then a rescue to transfer him to (2nd). They reached out to us because Kirby, likely a BC/ Aussie mix, is also probably a former ranch dog and not really used to people, so they wanted to make sure Kirby could go someplace that understood his quirks and could help him find the perfect place to call his FURever home.
Kirby has been with us since April 2022, and what we know so far is that he does NOT like a leash, likes to roam his property but always comes back, and is still hesitant around people. He gets along fine with other dogs and has learned how to play. He knows when to come eat and knows the dog door, though he prefers to stay outside. He will take treats from your hand and wants to be inside when it thunders.
Kirby is looking for a foster home who can work with him on his fear of people and leashes, and would do best with lots of room to roam and a really good fence.
| Name: | Wyatt |
| Sex: | Male |
| Age: | 6 years |
| Weight: | 52.0 |
| Color: | Not Specified |
| Coat: | Smooth (Short) |
| Energy Level: | Med/High |
| Spayed/Neutered: | Yes |
| Heartworm Status: | Negative |
| Location: | North Texas (DFW) |
| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Wyatt joined BCSAVE in May 2020 with several dogs who were living in ETX in pretty bad conditions. The owner was a man who we believe was mentally handicapped and never cared for the dogs. He ended up in the hospital, and the dogs (never vaccinated and pretty feral) were falling prey not only to poor care and each other, but to coyotes.
The rescuer was able to begin to trap pups (with the sister’s permission) and we found ourselves slowing taking in one dog after another. George and Martha were the first we got (about 6 wks old puppies) in May. Mercedes came after, and Butch, the oldest, came with Sundance and Sloane about six weeks later. But while the rescuers were able to get most of the dogs, there were still two left that were too savvy or cunning to get trapped.
The rescuer continued to go out to the property at least 1x week to feed the two last dogs and try to trap them and were having no success. They kept in touch with us, sending us pics from the trail cameras they had put on the property to track the pups. Finally, in desperation, they hired a trapper to come and dart both the pups. Finally, the last two pups arrived loopy, drugged, scared. We named them Wyatt and Doc, after Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. Wyatt is obviously not a Border Collie but we didn’t want to split them up or leave one out there.
Wyatt has come a LONG way since that day in 2020. He’s one of our “project” dogs. He has become a great house and farm dog. He sleeps inside, comes when called, plays ball and loves to swim. He will eat from your hand and loves to sleep in his dog bed. He’s dog friendly and will run and chase and is house-trained with a dog door. He will allow himself to be pet now, though he’s still not too sure about it. The ONLY thing is that he still cannot be leashed/ walked. He can be trapped in a room and held in order to get his shots, and is not aggressive at all (just scared).
Wyatt would love to be a farm dog, where he can run the property but come in at night. He would love to have someone spend some one on one time with him, working with him to get over this last hump. He has so much promise and is a great dog who just needs a little more help!
| Name: | Stella |
| Sex: | Female |
| Age: | 7 years |
| Weight: | 28.0 |
| Color: | Black & White |
| Coat: | Rough (Long) |
| Energy Level: | Couch Potato |
| Spayed/Neutered: | Yes |
| Heartworm Status: | Negative |
| Location: | North Texas (DFW) |
| Adoption Fee: | $100.00 |
Stella is one of six puppies rescued from a backyard breeder in Tennessee. There were many more seized and through the partnership of several rescues across the US and shelters and local law enforcement, all were placed in rescues. ALL of the pups were extremely unsocialized, very fearful of people, and heartworm positive. Their lives to date had been spent crowded in outdoor cages with little access to people, regular care or vetting. Some were so matted they had to be shaved and were ALL intact (neither spayed or neutered). Unfortunately several have crossed the rainbow bridge due to health issues and complications related to their heartworm treatment.
Stella has come such as long way! She will readily follow you around and has started to explore on her own, but reach down and she may or may not run away. If you are quick enough to scratch her butt, she might slowly inch closer for more, and while she won’t come when called, you can catch her and hold her for a minute before she gets anxious.
She is great around other dogs (never been around cats), but she barks to express her EVERY emotion. She likes to protect her space too, and will dart out and yip if another dog gets too close. But nothing serious – Stella is really ALL bark and very little bite! She rarely ever chews things up, but she expresses her frustration by grabbing and tugging loose fabric – chair, carpet tread, slipcovers, etc… She is house-trained if you get her out early and often or crate her.
Her pastimes include:
👉 Barking at you and other dogs
👉 Looking adorable
👉 Sleeping behind the couch
She will take some time to warm up to a new family, and is only available to adopt in Texas in case she needs to come back to the rescue. Stella is a work in progress but great for someone who likes a little challenge in the cutest little package ever!
| Name: | Twilight |
| Sex: | Male |
| Age: | 5 years |
| Weight: | 55.0 |
| Color: | Black Tri |
| Coat: | Smooth (Short) |
| Energy Level: | Med/High |
| Spayed/Neutered: | Yes |
| Heartworm Status: | Negative |
| Location: | North Texas (DFW) |
| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Twilight is a great goofy pup who is looking for a patient and loving home! A tri-colored mix boy who was transferred to BCSAVE from another rescue, he originally was surrendered in Lubbock TX, where he and a littermate were thought to be deaf. Turns out he wasn’t deaf but did have some serious trust issues. He’s still a little timid around new people, but will warm up quickly in a new home.
He has been w/ his current foster for a few years now and is doing great! He does prefers women over men, but is REALLY sweet and a bit of a goober. Once he trusts you, he is lovey-dovey and loves getting scratched all over. His nickname is “Wiggle Booty Buddy” because he’s always wagging his tail! He also LOVES to play with other dogs, and handicaps exceptionally well with smaller or younger dogs. He is very treat motivated and loves to swim. He has some hesitation about collars and leashes, but has gotten much more comfortable with touching his collar (though he still needs leash work). He knows the dog door, is house trained, and can be crated. He can hop a four ft. fence so would probably need a higher fence or to stay inside when his family is gone. He is also a cat chaser, so would probably be best in a cat-free home.
The best home for Twilight is one where he can go outside and romp, then inside for love and comfort. He needs some one on one time to learn that leashes aren’t bad and walks can be fun. He’s smart as a whip, not aggressive at all (even when scared), and is a great boy with a lot of potential. He just needs a home that can see his potential like we do. 🥰
| Name: | Sassy |
| Sex: | Female |
| Age: | 7 years |
| Weight: | 36.0 |
| Color: | Black & White |
| Coat: | Smooth (Short) |
| Energy Level: | High |
| Spayed/Neutered: | Yes |
| Heartworm Status: | Negative |
| Location: | North Texas (DFW) |
| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Sassy is a BC female who was rescued by a Good Samaritan several years ago after Sassy had been at the vet for injuries related to falling out of a truck (twice). While she is mostly healed, she does have some toes that are crooked and nails that are sensitive. She seems to have “phantom” issues with her hip and will “massage” with her mouth, but she’s been through all sorts of testing and medications and we can’t find anything wrong. Currently, her hip is managed somewhat with Gabapentin and Carprofen.
A high energy, high drive dog, Sassy has extreme ball and disc drive, assertive and focused. She needs a secure fence if there is any roads nearby, as she is obsessed with chasing cars along the fence line. She has good recall and walks well on a leash, and is cat friendly. Sassy does NOT play with other dogs – she ignores them and can live happily with them, but she is only focused on her ball and her people. She does love to snuggle with you on the couch or bed. She also loves to swim and will fetch whatever you throw in the water for her.
Sassy has LOTS of “quirks”. She is very car-reactive – barking at them along a fence if she can see/ hear them, or barking at them while riding IN the car. She also digs and barks at dirt, as well as chases her tail at times. Sassy will need a home that can be okay with her obsessive tendencies. But otherwise, Sassy is perfectly well-behaved. She self-entertains, though she would prefer to engage with you, is super smart, and has a fantastic personality. Even with her quirks, Sassy is a loving girl who lives for her ball and snuggling. She has a great personality and disposition and will provide her new family with lots of fun times!

Finally, the last two pups arrived loopy, drugged, scared. We named them Wyatt and Doc, after Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday.
Doc is one of our “project” dogs. He is still very scared of people though he comes in at night to sleep and when it rains. Otherwise, he spends most of his time outside, running and chasing other dogs. A gorgeous blue merle, he does not allow himself to be pet or leashed, though he can be trapped and given shots. He will take treats from your hand, but is definitely intimidated by other more assertive pups. When he comes in at night, he refrains from using the bathroom until he is let back out in the AM (he hasn’t quite gotten the hang of the dog door).
Doc would love to be a farm dog, where he can run the property but come in at night. He would love a pup friend who wasn’t too pushy that would hang outside with him. And with more one on one work, Doc may get more comfortable and eventually allow himself to be pet.

Abigail (aka Abby) is one of six feral, BYB pups who joined us in 2021. All unsocialized and heartworm+, Abby has come so far and is ready for a special FURever home who will love her remaining quirks as much as we do!
A petite 30 lbs, Abby is a sweet girl who likes nothing more than to get scratched and petted. She’s still a little timid around men, but does very well with her foster mom and kids. She can be a bit of a jerk to cats, but she does good with other dogs that will put up with her darting at them from wherever she is hiding. She is also a toy hoarder and destroyer of all things, like mayo packets, chapstick, tennis balls, etc… She is still nervous about wide open spaces and going out the front door on her own, but can be leashed and LOVES riding in the car. She’s almost perfect with house-training but still working on being 100%.
Favorite things to do:
👉 Get stuck under a towel or blanket
👉 Rolling on the bed
👉 Killing squeaky toys
👉 Eating things she shouldn’t
👉 Teasing her fur-friends
She may be quirky but she is adorable and full of personality and will make a wonderful addition to any family who is willing to give her a little time to shine! Her new family will need to expect a transition time with Abby and will need to patient with her as she learns a new home. She may still be timid or shy, and take some time to warm up to a new family and household. She is only available to adopt in Texas in case she needs to come back to the rescue.

🐾 YOUNG OF HEART AND SOUL! 🐾
Meet Blue – 9 yrs old and 30 lbs of pure💓!!
Looking for a furry companion that’s as unique as they come? Look no further, because Blue is here to steal your heart! 💙
Blue is a 2nd chance pup, returned after FIVE YEARS 😳. We were told Blue had nipped a few people. We brought him back into foster and can tell you that Blue is *not* a biter. Blue is the sweetest, feistiest, bouncy lapdog you could ever meet! Blue is also playful, mouthy, and he’s a LAND 🦈 when it comes to taking treats, but that is it. 😂
What Blue IS is a lapful of personality! What he lacks in street smarts (NOT THE BRIGHTEST 💡 IN THE BOX), he makes up for in cuteness. He loves your lap, his treats, his food, getting his butt scratched, and your lap – in no particular order! Fun fact – after every meal, Blue runs down to the water’s edge and washes his face (IN MUDDY 💦). 🤣
He has a large fat lump on his chest, but it doesn’t affect him and he’s gotten a clean bill of health. He’s also working on dropping a couple of pounds (not really). He loves dogs and cats though sometimes he thinks he’s tougher than he really is, then he’ll run home crying like a 2 yo who dropped his ice cream. He 💞 car rides and sleeping in bed. He is crate/ leash/ house trained, and would love a family who will spoil him until he can be spoiled no more.
Blue is waiting to become your forever friend and loyal companion. Let’s give Blue and his little Bob Hope nose the loving retirement home he deserves! 💙🐾

🐾 Meet Lego! 🐶🖤
Lego is a dynamic black and white bundle of joy weighing in at 40 lbs. He’s a true athlete, always on the go, and his love for toys is unmatched! 🏃♂️🎾
One of Lego’s unique quirks is his adorable duck-like bark – it’s bound to make you smile every time you hear it! 🦆 He’s also quite the problem solver; Lego has been known to jump baby gates with ease to get where he wants to go. He will counter surf, so his family needs to make sure there is nothing to tempt him while teaching him the rules of the roost.
Lego is a social butterfly, getting along well with kids, people and other dogs. He does have herding tendencies, and will nip the heels of smaller kids and even an adult on occasion, so he needs a child-free family and one that is familiar with herding behaviors. He is not very toy-motivated but does loves his treats and is very receptive to learning new commands.
If you’re an active individual or family looking for a four-legged adventure buddy, Lego could be the perfect match for you! He’s ready to share his boundless energy and affection with a loving forever home.
| Name: | Mindy |
| Sex: | Female |
| Age: | 8 years |
| Weight: | 32.0 |
| Color: | Black & White |
| Coat: | Smooth (Short) |
| Energy Level: | Medium |
| Spayed/Neutered: | Yes |
| Heartworm Status: | Negative |
| Location: | Hill Country (SA/Austin) |
| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Mindy is a 2nd chance pup who joined us in 2019! She came from a vet who took her in after her owner gave her up.
Mindy is crate/ house/leash trained and loves car rides and people. She absolutely ADORES her person, and will follow you to the ends of the earth. Her big brown eyes will melt your heart, and when you snuggle, she’ll gently tap you with her paw when you stop to say “please keep going”. She is sweeter than sweet and loves to get her belly rubbed.
She has actually gone on prior foster-to-adopts over the last few years, but it was never the right fit because Mindy *does* have her quirks:
👉 She needs regular potty breaks and will urinate if super nervous, scared, *or* if she gets over-aroused and “forgets” to go outside.
👉 She can skittery on slick floors (her feet go faster than her brain lol), and she can get a little hyper.
👉 She also has VERY HIGH herding drive. For her, herding (no nipping though!) other dogs is the best thing ever!
👉 She can also be VERY barky around other dogs – her arousal meter goes WAY up and so does her voice lol.
But she has so many upsides! She has fantastic recall, is eager to please, and knows how to settle. Fine with dogs, cats and kids. 😊 No toy drive but is super food motivated and learns fast. A calmer home would be fantastic to keep her over-arousal down. She will adore you forever! 🥰

Sistene and her siblings were rescued from a 30+ dog hoarding case in North Texas and are a part of our Heartland 29 group.
Sistene is a working dog who needs a job. Her favorite activity is running with the other pups who like to herd. Sistene will also still need leash and crate work, and you'll need to take training slow with Sistene. She has finally allowed her foster family to pet her and give her treats, but her real love is for running outside with her pack.
| Name: | Lindy Hop |
| Sex: | Female |
| Age: | 6 years |
| Weight: | 45.0 |
| Color: | Black & White |
| Coat: | Smooth (Short) |
| Energy Level: | High |
| Spayed/Neutered: | Yes |
| Heartworm Status: | Negative |
| Location: | North Texas (DFW) |
| Adoption Fee: | $300.00 |
Lindy (as in Lindy Hop because she’s so bouncy) is mix girl, we think maybe with pointer or even some sort of sighthound. Whatever Lindy is mixed with, it’s an active dog, because Lindy is all about running and playing and jumping and wrestling all day long!
Lindy was adopted in 2023 by a handler who trained her in search and rescue but returned her because her dog and Lindy were getting into fights plus Lindy had a rear leg injury.
We’ve had Lindy back now for several months. She is a VERY high drive dog for search and hunt, and is nearly fully trained for some sort of cadaver training; we’re not SAR-lingo proficient but we were told she’s just a couple of tests shy of becoming “certified” in Search and Rescue/ Human Remain Detection.
Lindy is now fully healed up, released from the vet, she’s gone back to her original trainer to evaluate, and she’s got no issues that we can see.
We’d love to get her back to work, since that is what SHE loves. She’s a fantastic dog, and while her leg bothers her if she overexerts herself, it never slows her down. She’s fearless and driven, climbs on everything and anything, and when in the house, crates beautifully and is extremely loving and sweet. If another dog in our (very busy) house puffs up to her, she’ll stand her ground but she’s not starting fights or causing ruckus. In fact, she’ll crate herself if there is too much hubbub going on. She LOVES climbing rubble and swimming and toys and balls and fetch and nosework…She is an exuberant girl, and is built for action – she is lean and muscled, even if she is a bit of a bull in a china shop.
Lindy was reevaluated at a training seminar several weeks ago and her trainer handler took some video (below).
Any handlers looking for a pretty turn-key middle age pup to do SAR stuff with?
