I’m 4 years old and just arrived in Minnesota from Alabama—quite a big trip for a tiny 20-pound girl. I’m taking my time getting comfortable, mostly from the safety of my kennel, where I like to quietly observe what’s going on. I’ve done well with the humans, dogs, and cats I’ve met so far; I just need a little time to warm up. If you have a treat, that helps.
For such a soft-spoken girl, communication is no problem, though. If you’re ever curious about what I’m feeling, just take a glance at my tail. It’s a dead giveaway for whatever is going on inside my adorable little head.
I may be little, but I am independent. On walks, I know what interests me. Nose to the ground, I can get very focused on a good scent and sometimes follow it a little farther than I’m actually comfortable with. If I suddenly realize I’ve gotten myself somewhere that feels a bit scary, I’m perfectly happy to be picked up and carried back to safe ground. I’ll also check back in with you along the way, especially if you come down to my level.
I’m still figuring out a few things in my new environment. I’ve had a few accidents in the house, although I keep my crate clean. Outside, it can take me a while to find a spot where I feel comfortable enough to go, so a little patience with my potty routine goes a long way. I may also bark if I’m left alone for too long. I’m still settling in, so my foster family is learning right along with me.
I should probably also confess that I’m a sock thief. Any sock left on the floor is fair game, especially if it smells like my favorite person. I don’t destroy them—I just quietly carry them back to my den for safekeeping. I consider this a perfectly reasonable arrangement.
And finally, I have a signature move: the army crawl. Yes, it is adorable. You don’t have to take my word for it, though. If you think you might be my perfect person, we can meet and you can see for yourself.
