Jay and his brother Crowley were surrendered to a high kill Houston shelter after their owners lost their home.
Like his brother (or perhaps even more so), Jay is a LOVER by definition and very laid back/easy-going. He adores cuddling and will flip over onto his back for belly rubs almost as soon as he gets comfortable with a person. He loves to be in the same room as you and will sleep on the floor near you when he can (he prefers the floor to dog beds). He has a great balance of being able to keep up with long walks and zoomies around the yard, and settling down during the work day and during quiet times. He is very sweet-tempered and eager to please. Jay is crate-trained, housebroken, and has improved a lot on his leash walking skills (getting more confident with each walk). He’s the slightest bit shy when meeting new people, but is calm and will stick near your side and check-in before approaching to sniff/investigate. He’s also been working on basic training like sit, down, stay, etc., and is learning fast. Jay has also been socialized around young children - he is very polite, sniffed them when they approached and accepted pets, but didn’t get in their space.
